Healing Turmeric Tea with Cinnamon

Healing Turmeric Tea with Cinnamon

Here’s an easy recipe for a warm beverage that is sure to relieve your aches and pains. What’s the secret ingredient? Turmeric.

Here are your ingredients:

1/3 cup honey
3 teaspoons turmeric
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Hot water
Freshly squeezed lemon juice

Here are your directions:

Combine honey, turmeric, cinnamon, and black pepper in a Mason jar or Tupperware, so that honey mixture can be stored in your cabinet.

When preparing the tea, simply heat water until almost boiling (almost). Place one spoonful (approximately ½ tablespoon) of honey mixture into mug. Pour hot water and stir until honey mixture is dissolved. Before imbibing, squeeze a wedge of fresh lemon into the drink, as it enhances the brightness of the tea, pairs well with honey and cinnamon, and balances the smokiness of the turmeric.

Why: Turmeric is a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Hint: do not omit the black pepper from this recipe! Why?
